Waterborne Wetting and Dispersing Additive For Epoxy Zinc-Rich Primer

Kabasph KBW-6072 is a standard dispersing additive for resin-free pigment concentrates and is suitable for both inorganic and organic pigments. It is positioned as a “water-resistant water-based dispersing agent” and is analogous to Additol VXW6208. It offers excellent water resistance, outstanding viscosity reduction, good grinding efficiency and stability, and excellent color development.

Core Performance and Advantages

• Excellent Water Resistance: This is the most prominent feature of KBW-6072. In various resin systems (such as epoxy emulsions, polyurethane dispersions, and water-based alkyds), coatings prepared with KBW-6072 maintain outstanding water resistance. After soaking in water for 7 days, the blistering area and adhesion loss are comparable to or better than competitive products such as Additol VXW6208. 
• Outstanding Viscosity Reduction:When preparing high-concentration titanium dioxide (R996) resin-free white pastes, KBW-6072 demonstrates a highly effective initial viscosity reduction. For resin-free carbon black (MA100) pastes and matting powders (OK520, SS230, etc.), the viscosity is significantly lower than both blank samples without dispersant and some competitive products, showing excellent viscosity reduction capability.
• Good Grinding Efficiency and Stability: In resin-free white pastes (pure TiO₂ or containing fillers), the grinding efficiency of KBW-6072 is similar to BYK190, and the fineness after grinding meets requirements (15 μm or 25 μm). After storage at room temperature for 7 days, the fineness of the pigment pastes remains stable without sedimentation, demonstrating good storage stability.
• Minimal Impact on Gloss and Excellent Color Development: In various resin systems, KBW-6072 has a similar effect on coating gloss as competitive product VXW6208, with overall minimal impact. In acrylic emulsions, titanium dioxide pastes prepared with KBW-6072 achieve the highest whiteness and gloss, and carbon black C311 pastes exhibit the highest gloss. In resin-free white paste systems, its color development is considered superior to BYK190.
• Excellent Matting Effect: When used as a matting agent dispersant, KBW-6072 provides very high matting levels (typically >98%) in both water-based alkyd and water-based epoxy systems, delivering an outstanding matting effect.
